Upham Inns is a collection of country pubs and inns in beautiful locations across the south of England.
I redesigned and built their website, which launched in October 2024, incorporating their new branding designed by Roccoco.
With a collection of 14 pubs, restaurants and inns - each with their own individual websites - the intention of this website was to showcase what connects all of these different establishments as well as highlighting what makes each of them unique and special.
The homepage starts off clean and minimal, introducing the user to Upham Inns with a typical English countryside scene housed within the new branding. This scene expands as you scroll down the page and you can easily navigate to all of the different inns, whether it's through curated collections or their location on a map. Specific emphasis was also placed on whether you want to dine, stay the night or host an event.
With a multitude of reasons as to which inn a user may want to explore, I endeavoured to cater for these when presenting the full collection. They can be viewed as pins on a map, or as a grid, and both can be filtered by custom categories such as Dog Friendly or Meeting Space.
I designed the main navigation to be as focussed as possible, with 6 main links always available at the top of the page, Eating, sleeping and events were the 3 primary areas, in addition to links to view all of the inns, seasonal offers and work opportunities. I built this navigation so that the client has the ability to add relevant Collections as sub menus to each of these, styled with images so they become more compelling than a standard drop down menu.
Each inn offers different something different for their customers, so I had the idea to group the similar ones as Collections, and present them with movie style posters (created by Roccoco)
As always the website looks and works great whether it’s viewed on a desktop or on mobile, so the user will get the full experience regardless of their device.
